We have commenced demolition works on site, including the soft strip of Magnolia House, where our new site office will be based. ‘Soft strip’ is a term used to describe the removal of all non-structural fixtures and fittings from a building.
Hard demolition – the complete removal of existing structures on site – began on the 20th February and is scheduled for completion by early June 2019.
We are preparing for the installation of the concrete frame, beginning with the first stages of piling – the setting of deep foundations ahead of construction beginning. We are due to begin work on site around mid-June, with piling beginning in July with test piles.
Archaeological survey works have now begun on site in collaboration with English Heritage. We will keep you updated about any findings of interest in future updates.
Demolition work progresses with temporary propping work being carried out to shore up the site’s Grade 2-listed wall. Specialist equipment is in place to monitor noise and vibrations allowing us to manage and minimise our impact on the site, local residents and businesses.
Peabody Jobs & Apprenticeship Fair
Over 2,000 people attended the Peabody Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair in March.
The event, held at the Pembury Community Centre in Hackney, was designed to help people from across London get a foot on the career ladder.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet over 40 prospective employers offering a huge variety of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a range of industries, from construction and engineering to media and advertising.
We are passionate about promoting careers in construction and combating misconceptions about the industry, and were able to engage with over 200 young people on the day.
Three Waters will be registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme until work on site is complete. We look forward to welcoming a visit to site from the scheme in the coming months.
This voluntary initiative ensures our commitment to the highest standards of care and consideration in areas including safety and security, the professional appearance of our site, protection of the local environment, and the foundation of respectful relationships with the local community.
