Where we are today

A location with history

In the 17th century, French Huguenots, fleeing religious persecution in their home country, settled in Whitechapel and used their silk-weaving skills to establish a new industry in the area.

In 2015, Mount Anvil recognised that Whitechapel was about to receive a fresh burst of entrepreneurial energy, as the first young finance and tech professionals began buying and renting in the neighbourhood's affordable homes.

We planned a development with all the skill and craft of those Huguenot weavers and honoured their legacy by naming it The Silk District.

Development motif

We broke ground on The Silk District development in 2019, creating new jobs in the Whitechapel area and contributing to the local economy,

The first homes in The Georgette North building were released in April 2019.

Every quarter of The Silk District has been crafted with wellbeing in mind. Full-height windows and thoughtful interiors bring light and balance into the homes.
