This policy statement sets out the approach Mount Anvil Ltd has taken to date and those we intend to take during 2023 with the aim of ensuring that modern slavery or human trafficking are not taking place within our business or our supply chain.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015
Mount Anvil Ltd rely upon this statement, where necessary, for the purpose of complying with their individual annual reporting requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The approach and processes referred to within this statement are relevant to Mount Anvil Ltd and its projects. Mount Anvil Ltd will monitor their performance in complying with requirements and produce an update in subsequent annual statements.
The aim of this policy statement is to communicate our responsibilities and highlight the risks that modern slavery and trafficking pose to our business, clients and supply chain. Mount Anvil Ltd operates from Central London as developer of premium and affordable housing across London. Our supply chain is comprised of contractors, service providers, producers of materials and manufacturers of a variety of mechanical, electrical and other products used in construction processes.
‘Doing the right thing’ is one of the core values under which Mount Anvil Ltd operates. Mount Anvil Ltd is committed to being a responsible business and to upholding high ethical standards in all our operations, including those of our supply chains. Our commitments are summarised in our Health and Safety, Environmental Sustainability and Sustainable Procurement policies.
The Global Slavery Index presents significant evidence that highlights the risk that labour standards issues present in construction and property supply chains. Specifically in the production of construction materials, delivery of construction activities and through the provision of professional services equipment such as laptops and phones.
To identify and mitigate the risks of slavery and human trafficking, Mount Anvil Ltd has to date has undertaken the following focussed approach to the procurement of labour, goods and services:
- Collaboration with our clients, peers and suppliers through clear definition and contractual communication of our expectations
- Prequalification tools are utilised to assess UK contractor compliance
2023 plans
During 2023, Mount Anvil Ltd will invest further in web-based tools that will assist mapping our supply chain modern slavery risks. This, with a specific set of supplier prequalification questions, will help to bolster our procurement processes, allowing better, ethical purchasing decisions.
Where issues are identified, Mount Anvil Ltd will work closely with suppliers to seek a resolution. If the issue is deemed serious and/or is not capable of remediation Mount Anvil Ltd will remove the supplier from our supply chain list unless and until the issue is fully resolved.
Mount Anvil Ltd will generate a suite of classroom and e-learning training for Mount Anvil Ltd staff and construction supplier leadership teams on slave labour and human trafficking risks. Where staff have concerns around issues of forced labour, human rights, recruitment practices or exploitation, they will be encouraged and expected to report concerns to the Mount Anvil Ltd People Team.
In addition, Mount Anvil Ltd will work with charity organisations such as the ‘Modern Slavery Helpline’ to generate awareness programmes, campaigns and provide means of support for victims or those who may have witnessed modern slavery.
