Considerate Constructors: An update from The Silk District

What you need to know now: a perfect inspection score for The Silk District, progress from site, Superbloom and world-class music in East London.

A perfect inspection score for The Silk District

We are a Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) registered site, and are proud to be part of this voluntary scheme that oversees our work on the environment, our workforce, Health & Safety, the site’s appearance and the communities we work in.

The CCS recently visited The Silk District for an inspection. The team and the site impressed the inspector, who awarded The Silk District a perfect score of 45/45.

Construction update

Things are progressing quickly as our 200-strong site team helps The Bouchon, The Silk District’s 25-storey tower, take shape in Whitechapel.

We have continued to welcome both the National Home Building Council (NHBC) and Building Control to site for regular inspections. We also recently enjoyed a site visit from the regional director of NHBC, who was judging The Silk District for an award this year – we’ll share updates on that whenever we have them.

Work across site is running to schedule. In the next few weeks, the main core of The Bouchon will be complete – a real milestone for the project. We will also be starting our pre-decoration snagging process from level one, ensuring the highest standards of finish throughout.

The Bouchon’s concrete frame is currently at level 23, with the building’s cladding up to level 12. Internally we’re installing the apartments’ underfloor heating, and are currently up to level nine. Our carpentry teams are hard at work too, fitting kitchens and other woodwork up to level four.

We’re also making preparations to welcome 1400 lorry loads of concrete to site. That’s how much concrete we’ll be using to construct Phase 2’s frame… watch this space.
