The latest progress on site at The Verdean
We're making great progress on site since kicking off at the start of the year by commencing enabling works for the development, this includes things like disconnecting and diverting water and gas connections to allow us to start demolition. We're on track with the build program with everything running smoothly and look forward to the first completions in 2024.
Construction update
The Oak
Earlier this year, working with Catalyst Housing, all existing residents residing in phase 1 of The Verdean, were moved out and we have since made great progress on the build program.
We began by disconnecting and diverting utility connections, things like gas and water lines, which allowed us to start demolition.
We've removed 20% of any ground obstructions - things in the ground that need to be moved in order for us to commence the build. Soft strip demolition is 70% complete, this means the removal of existing recyclable items such as kitchens and bathrooms. Hard demolition has also commenced, using machinery like excavators we've levelled 35% of existing buildings.
Hoarding is up surrounding the site and 24 hour site security has been appointed.
The concrete base for the sub station has been completed and the sub station, a facility housing electrical equipment that will supply the building, is in place.
Over the next few weeks we'll commence preparatory works for the piling for The Oak. Piling is where deep holes are made in the ground that will be filled with concrete and create the base of the building, laying the foundation for your new home.
We're carrying out all our work on site safely, following the government guidance, with weekly COVID testing on site for all team members and contractors.
