Now celebrating their 26th year, the New Homes Awards are highly competitive and celebrated accolades in the property industry, which are designed to “champion excellence across the housing spectrum, from innovative first-time buyer flats and eco-homes to dazzling sky-high penthouse apartments atop towers of curving glass”.
The winners are chosen through a rigorous, five-stage judging process by an independent panel of industry experts, as well as Evening Standard readers with recent buying experience. The judges evaluate multiple factors, including: innovation, location, design, value for money, utilisation of space and light, use of materials, environmental positioning and quality of finish.
Dollar Bay, a development by Citystyle Homes and Mount Anvil is an iconic addition to London's skyline. The development has previously won the NHBC Pride in the Job award and is now also recognised as a “Development of Outstanding Architectural Merit” – an award which celebrates designs that combine form and function and push architecture into new and exciting directions.
The Evening Standard judges praised Dollar Bay, “This elegant slender tower close to Canary Wharf has been designed to emulate two glass crystals joined in the middle and perfectly balanced at the end of a dock, floating between the water and the sky. The join in between takes the form of a glazed shadow gap, offering ventilation and light to internal areas.”
Jon Hall, Mount Anvil's Sales Director commented, “We are delighted that Dollar Bay has been recognised for its striking design by the Evening Standard at the New Homes Awards. Leaving a positive legacy for London is a key ambition for us, and this award shows that Dollar Bay sets the benchmark for outstanding architecture, and is a shining example of design excellence in an already iconic part of London.”
Dollar Bay’s prime location at the foot of the South Dock maximises the angle and shape of it’s distinctive ‘crystal’ structure and makes for spectacular views from all the apartments. Designed by international award-winning architects, SimpsonHaugh & Partners, and informed by a strong, contemporary design concept, Dollar Bay rises like two perfectly balanced crystals from the water’s edge, while the stunning glass façade reflects the ever-changing light. The surrounding area complements the development’s design and lifestyle, where residents can enjoy vast outdoor spaces, waterside walkways, a wide variety of restaurants and bars, as well as great transport connections.
The development has been a catalyst for change in the neighbourhood, transforming a previously neglected quayside into a lively public space that people want to live in. Dollar Bay features a residents' waterfront garden, dockside gym and lounge, while each apartment boasts its very own winter garden, and beautiful interiors with smart and stylish storage solutions. Completed six months ahead of schedule, the majority of apartments are already occupied and nearly all are sold, with only two homes remaining.
