Working with the local community
We are always striving to do the right thing and were thrilled to have the opportunity to support local communities in the Borough of Newham.
We are proud that our team at Royal Docks West have recently taken the initiative to support several local institutions. Senior Project Manager Brett Fennell and members of his team, including Michelle Howard, Katie Kavanagh and Stuart Flynn attended Richards House Children's Hospice in the run up to Christmas. They were delighted to be able to donate and decorate a Christmas tree for the children at the hospice. The tree was very well received by the staff and children, and the team were pleased to help a valuable organisation within the local community.
The Royal Docks West team also supported local students with their Built Environment coursework. The team gave a presentation following which the students were given a site tour. The Mount Anvil team were very pleased with the enthusiasm of the students, as well as their challenging questions and keen interest of construction.
Brett Fennell and Bryn Parker also visited NewVic college and shared their knowledge with engineering and construction students. They made a presentation on "Progression into Engineering and Construction" which was very well attended and received high praise. In the words of Jane Nugent of NewVic college, "Without yourselves giving up your time and huge effort, these insight days would not be possible."
Brett also attended Vicarage Primary School to judge a model building competition for year five pupils. The event was a success and received great feedback. Nina Staebler stressed that, "Having professionals from the construction industry there really made the event come alive for the children."
We look forward to continuing our work with the local community in the New Year.
