Finetuning & Formula E: An update from Royal Eden Docks
What you need to know now: impressing inspectors, progress from site, a ‘parade of sails’ and Formula E in the Royal Docks.
Construction update
It's an exciting time to be working in the Royal Docks, with the much-anticipated Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) now open and serving the area, and Royal Eden Docks continuing to take shape.
It's been another busy few weeks on site, with the team moving quickly and work keeping to schedule - thanks in large part to a full-capacity site team of 240 people.
From the concrete frame team to dryliners building internal walls, plumbers and electricians, bricklayers, carpenters, scaffolders and logistics operatives, it's all systems go here in the Royal Docks.
We've also continued to welcome National Home Building Council (NHBC) inspectors to site for regular Warranty and Building control checks.
NHBC are the UK's leading provider of warranty and insurance for new homes, and a trusted advocate for build quality in the UK construction industry. We will continue to welcome NHBC inspections on site until the development is complete.
Internal decoration is currently underway in homes from levels 1-5 at The Courtyard, with kitchens being fitted to level 7, and plastering now up to level 10.
The building's external façade and brickwork are now complete up to level 12, with windows being installed at level 15, and rainscreen cladding currently being installed on levels 14 & 15.
The Botanist continues to keep pace with The Courtyard's progress. Decoration working is ongoing to level three, kitchens being fitted on level four, flooring going down on level seven and plastering underway on level eight.
Externally, The Botanist's façade works are ongoing to level 12, with windows being installed at level 15 and the rain screen cladding to levels 14 and 15.
We're also making great progress on Alder House. The building's concrete frame is now, and the scaffolding needed for works to begin on the external façade has been erected up to level twelve.
The building's self-contained bathroom pods are constructed offsite and delivered to the development almost complete and ready to install and connect up, which greatly reduce build and fitting time, have now been delivered for all homes within this block, and work to prepare the apartments for their installation is well underway.
Our specialist design consultants are also making great progress finetuning designs for the development's amenities - from its swimming pool and rooftop running track to its landscaped gardens and play area.
