On your marks! London's first residential rooftop running track opened

In a first for London, Mount Anvil has this week launched an athletics track on the roof of its latest development at Queens Cross in Newham, East London. 50 metres up and with sweeping views back towards the Olympic Park, Canary Wharf and City skylines, the running track and outdoor gym facilities will give fitness and wellbeing conscious residents the opportunity to keep fit and enjoy the view year-round. The track was officially opened by Newham’s own Olympic, World and Commonwealth Athletics champion, Christine Ohuruogu MBE and James Asser, MP for West Ham and Beckton.

Speaking at the launch, Christine Ohuruogu MBE, said:
“It is such a great pleasure to launch a new running facility in Newham. Supporting the local community and providing access to facilities for people of all abilities is something that is hugely important to me.”

The track forms part of Eden House, which is also home to London’s first purpose-built Peloton-powered cycling studio in a residential development, as well as a swimming pool.

In line with Mount Anvil’s commitment to consistently deliver outstanding and high-quality tenure-blind schemes, the full range of facilities are due to open to all residents in January 2025.

Mount Anvil has continued to embrace its collaborative approach to housing, working in partnership with ExCeL London and housing association The Riverside Group, to deliver Queens Cross. Upon completion in 2027, the scheme will provide 854 new homes ranging from studios to three-bed apartments, of which 262 will be affordable.

The entire Queens Cross development has been designed with fitness and wellbeing at its heart. Residents can enjoy 5,000 sqm of biodiverse landscaped gardens, a yoga studio, treatment rooms, a luxurious sauna, flexible workspaces and 24-hour concierge service, in addition to the running track, swimming pool and Peloton studio.

Located in the heart of London’s most active regeneration district, the new fitness-first residence is a short 3-minute walk away from the Custom House Elizabeth Line station, giving excellent connections to the rest of the city. With over 18km of riverside in the Royal Docks area, Queens Cross residents can also discover a range of water sports and go for dockside walks.

Jon Hall, Group Sales Director at Mount Anvil, said:
“Residents at Royal London Docks can now run, swim or jump on a Peloton bike. If they’re a keen triathlete, they can do all three. They can then relax in Eden House’s luxurious sauna, or simply enjoy the landscaped gardens. However you unwind, we are thinking of new ways to help Londoners stay fit and healthy.

Mount Anvil is constantly pushing the boundaries of how we can deliver even better, more innovative housing for Londoners. Working closely with our partners, we continue to pursue better, differently, to create places across the city that are designed to help residents lead lives with wellbeing at their heart."
