1-bed and studio style at The Silk District

2021 was a busy year at The Silk District. We completed and handed over around 180 homes to new homeowners, and we're looking forward to more completions continuing through to the summer. Check out our newly completed studio and 1-bed apartment at The Silk District below.

The Jacquard

 

The Jacquard is now complete! So that we can ensure the highest quality, the teams are now going through and the final quality checks and inspections ready for home tours and handovers – with the first ones taking place as we speak, we're looking forward to our residents moving into the building.

The landscaping works surrounding The Jacquard are still ongoing and will be complete by the end of February, ready for use in the spring.

The Bouchon

 

Construction of The Bouchon is progressing well, with the main lift core which creates the centre of the building now at floor 16, we are well over halfway and will be at level 25 by June. All the concrete floor plates are now complete up to level 11. Over the next few weeks, we'll progress with internal partition walls that create the divide between each room, the underfloor heating will be laid and the floor screeds (which is the material that's laid to make the floors smooth and level ready for the flooring to be laid) will begin from the first floor upwards.

Externally, the cladding is now progressed up to level 3. In order to ensure the highest quality and the quickest, most efficient installation, we are fitting unitised cladding panels. The panels come to site ready made to put straight into place in their specific sections of the building – think clicking together Lego pieces.  

Despite the challenges that the industry is facing, we have around 240 operatives working here at The Silk District and are pleased to say that we currently anticipate that the build program will remain on track for completions at the end of 2023.

What's happening in the lettings market?

 

Tony Usher, Sales Director, says: "Local agents are informing us that properties at The Silk District are being let within 48 hours of going on the market, and are out-performing comparable homes in the area.

There’s a huge demand for rental properties here and we’re regularly receiving calls from agents to see if there’s more stock. What's even better to see is a real community has quickly taken shape here."

Crossrail

Now in the final stage of the programme, Trial Operations, Crossrail remains on track to officially open in the first half of 2022. Check out the latest update here.

Whitechapel Road

Whitechapel Road is the cultural and historical heart of Whitechapel, and home to its iconic street market. It is experiencing rapid transformation with the arrival of the Elizabeth line (Crossrail), the Council’s new Town Hall, and other forthcoming investments.

The plans include: 

  • 10,000 sqm of public realm works, including improved pavements, street lighting, greening and street furniture
  • New market stalls supporting a better trading and shopping environment
  • Improved market facilities including waste management
  • Delivery of essential building repairs to properties along the High Street
