Half a million man hours: An update from Royal Eden Docks

What you need to know now: impressing inspectors, progress from site, an installation of over 100 miles of cabling in The Royal Docks.

Construction update

It’s all hands on deck here at Royal Eden Docks. We recently calculated that 554,596 man hours have been put into the site since January 2021, and we’ve already installed over 100 miles of cabling in the buildings here.

A huge site team of around 260 people are keeping work to schedule, with trades working across the development ranging from demolition crews to decorators putting the finishing touches on The Courtyard and The Botanist.

All homes at The Courtyard are now complete, and snagging – the process of final checks to find and correct any minor faults – is underway. Externally, landscaping and planting to The Courtyard’s entrance area is nearly finished.

We’re also approaching the finish line for all homes in The Botanist, with the last two apartments here decorated last week and final checks being completed before the building’s first residents move in. We recently installed the first of The Botanist’s balconies, with the installation of a further six a day scheduled for the next two weeks.

We’re making great progress with structural work for Cores 4 and 5, Royal Eden Docks’ newest buildings, too. We’re pouring concrete slabs for ground and first floors, continuing with the construction of their concrete frames, and looking forward to scaffolding going up in the new year. Watch this space!

Earlier this year we launched Chelsea Botanica, an exclusive collection of riverside homes in SW6. Delivered in a repeat partnership with Peabody, Chelsea Botanica includes landscaped gardens designed with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, and the UK’s first residential Peloton fitness hub.

Thanks to a first week of sales back in June that saw over 80% of the schemes new homes reserved,  Chelsea Botanica was the fastest selling scheme of the year.

A few homes are still available at Chelsea Botanica – read more by clicking here.

Celebrating Makers & Mentors second birthday

Last week we spent a brilliant evening celebrating the second birthday of Makers & Mentors. This unique programme, run by Mount Anvil and supported by the Mayor of London, seeks to inspire and support a more diverse construction industry by connecting people with mentoring opportunities, apprenticeships, work experience and curriculum support.

This celebratory event was hosted with BAME in Property. Attendees heard success stories from mentors and mentees, enjoyed networking (and cake!) and left with this key take away from Mount Anvil MD Darragh Hurley – “Problems aren’t solved from the consciousness that created them – we need cognitive diversity to thrive”. Here’s to another year of Makers & Mentors!
